Ecologist Tom Wessels will be joining us by Zoom  to “Read… the Forested Landscape”.  Tom has been studying New England forests for over three decades and can tell you things about the history of our local forests that you would never think possible.

This workshop will be based on our photos of Ashby forests.  We welcome your photos!

Please submit photos of things you have encountered on forest walks that interest or intrigue you to the address at the link below by June 15.  (Please note that you do NOT have to have a Dropbox account to add photos to the folder. ): Dropbox folder

Photos could be of landscapes that show past disturbance history and Tom will explain what happened there.   Or if you have photos of something of geologic interest, unique tree growth forms, or any interesting forest scene, Tom can interpret their history as well.

Tom Wessels is a terrestrial ecologist and professor emeritus at Antioch University where he founded the master’s degree program in Conservation Biology. He is the author of numerous books with his latest being “New England’s Roadside Ecology: Explore 30 of the Region’s Unique Natural Areas.”

This workshop is made possible through a grant by the Ashby Charitable Fund.
