Call For Nomination Papers And Absentee Ballots

Nomination Papers

Nomination Papers are available for the vacant Selectmen’s Seat that will be filled at an election on Tuesday January 12, 2021.

Forms are available in the Town Clerk’s office during regular business hours.

The last day to register to vote for the November 14th Special Town Meeting is Wednesday, November 4, 2020.

ABSENTEE BALLOTS

Voters can request an absentee ballot in person for the November 3rd State  Election until 12noon Monday November 2, 2020 at the Town Clerk’s Office.

All Drop Boxes at Town Hall will be emptied at 4pm on Saturday 10/31 and will be closed from that time until reopening on Sunday 11/1 at 9am.

Ballot Counting For Ballots Postmarked By November 3rd, 2020

The Town Clerk’s office will be holding a counting session for all mailed ballots postmarked by November 3rd and received by November 6th on Monday November 9th at 10am

Volunteer Opportunities with the Ashby C.O.A.

Sand Delivery Volunteer

The Ashby Council on Aging is looking for a volunteer to deliver sand to Ashby’s older residents. The sand delivery volunteer is responsible for obtaining sand from the Ashby town shed and transporting it to their assigned residents throughout the course of the upcoming winter. Sand delivery volunteers must be able to fill and lift a 5-gallon bucket of sand and they must have their own transportation. The ideal candidate is sensitive the needs of the elderly and is able to work independently.

Meals on Wheels Delivery Drivers Needed!

The Ashby Council on Aging is in need of volunteer Meals on Wheels delivery drivers. Meal delivery drivers are responsible for picking up meals at a central location and delivering them to homebound elders in Ashby. Due to the pandemic, delivery days are currently limited to Wednesdays from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. There is the potential for additional hours in the future.

Requirements: Volunteers must hold a valid driver’s license, have reliable transportation, and pass a CORI check. Drivers must be comfortable with the Ashby area. The ideal candidate is sensitive the needs of the elderly. Also, they are confident in working independently while following procedures in order to ensure the safety of our elders and volunteers. Due to the current pandemic, drivers are restricted to those under the age of 60, as per CDC guidelines.

C.O.A. Coordinator

The Ashby Council on Aging is looking for a volunteer C.O.A. Coordinator. The person in this role will be responsible for assisting the C.O.A. Director in all functions of the department. Specific functions will include assisting with preparation of the monthly newsletter, responding to emails and phone calls as needed, coordinating C.O.A. events, and maintaining the C.O.A. office space. Days and hours are flexible. Minimum of 8 hours per week.

Requirements: Volunteers must hold a valid driver’s license, have reliable transportation, and pass a CORI check. Must have an understanding of the needs of older adults in rural areas, must enjoy working with the elderly, and be sensitive to confidentiality. Must be proficient in Microsoft office suite, including Publisher.

Essential skills: The ideal candidate will work well independently and as part of a team. Problem solving skills are key. Candidates should be comfortable when talking on the phone and interacting with the public.
