ARTICLE XIX – MUNICIPAL DOG CONTROL LAW

Section 1B. Late Registration Fee: Any person or entity who fails, prior to March 31 annually, to license and register each and every dog which they own or permanently shelter and support within the boundaries of the Town of Ashby, and pay all associated fees and charges due under any applicable statute or ordinance, will be required to pay to the Town a late fee of $10.00. Anyone acquiring a dog six months of age or older after March 31 in any given year, shall have 30 days from the date of acquisition (which shall be presumed to be the date of issuance of the associated rabies certificate), to register and license the dog, or be subject to a late fee of $10.00.

Massachusetts State Law requires ALL dogs to be registered annually. The cost is $6 for spayed/neutered dogs or $10 for unaltered dogs.

Please stop by the Town Clerk’s office: Mon-Thu 8am-noon, or Wed evenings 5-8pm. Please bring a current copy of each dog’s rabies certificate

Natural Resource Protection Zoning Bylaw Presentation, March 7, 2023 At 7pm

 

The Planning Board invites you to join a public conversation on Natural Resources Protection Zoning Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at 7:00 pm (by Zoom).

There will be a presentation by Jeff Lacy of Rural Planning Associates. Jeff has been working with the Planning Board since 2021 to develop this proposed bylaw.

Natural resources protection zoning is intended to protect the rural character of Ashby, even as it grows. It can help large landowners realize income from their land while still preserving 80% as open space.

Multiple Town wide surveys over the past 30 years consistently place the preservation of Ashby’s rural character as a top priority for residents. This proposed Natural Resources Protection Zoning bylaw (NRPZ) addresses this priority. The Planning Board believes that it would be a valuable tool to help preserve the rural character of town.

There will be ample time for questions.
