Presentation by Ron Watson on Ashby High School in 1951 & Civil War veteran George A. Hitchcock

Recollections of Ashby High School 1951. a presentation by Ron Watson:Ron's teaching career began at Ashby High School in 1951. He has many fond memories to share of teaching, students, and coaching basketball at Ashby in the mid 20th century. Ron also edited the diaries of George A. Hitchcock both in its original form and in a later versions under the Titles "Ashby to Andersonville" and "Death has all he can attend to".  September 26th, 3:00 pm at Ashby Town Hall, sponsored by Ashby Historical Society, admission free, donations appreciated

Reminder Taxes are Due

Taxes Due Aug1st --- A reminder your first quarter FY2016 real estate tax payments are due by Aug1st.  If you did not receive this bill or if you have questions or, please call the Tax Collector at 386-2427 x 13.  Bills are mailed 30 days in advance of due dates, and payments are posted effective the date of receipt.  Late payments pay interest first; the resulting tax shortfall and accrued interest are added to the next quarterly bill.

Part-Time Civilian Public Safety Dispatcher Position Available

Ashby Police Department – Part Time Public Safety Dispatchers

The Ashby Police Department is currently seeking applicants for the position of Part-Time Civilian Public Safety Dispatcher(s). Responsibilities include but are not limited to; receiving emergency and non-emergency calls, dispatching Police/Fire/EMS personnel, data entry into a records management system.

Applicants must have; HS diploma or GED, availability and willingness to work “all” shifts including weekends and holidays, flexible and short notice availability is required. Those who possess certifications in E911, EMD, CPR, and CJIS certifications, and prior experience are preferred. Excellent communication skills including verbal and written, basic computer skills, and the ability to multi-task are required. Applicants must pass a background and CORI check prior to employment.

These position(s) are part-time and do not receive benefits. The hourly rate while training is $12/hour which will increase to $15.15 at the conclusion of successful training. Part-time wages increase to $15.30 on June 30, 2015. Letters of interest and resumes will be accepted until the position is filled.
