American Roots Music Concert March 9th

Lizards in the Hayloft, Friday March 9th, 7pm, Ashby Congregational Church

Join local musicians for a concert and discussion that traces the historic and cultural music styles that have combined to influence modern bluegrass and roots music.

The Lizards in the Hayloft are Christine Anderson (violin), Stephan Arsenault (bass, vocals), Mark Haines (banjo, vocals), Cedwyn Morgan (mandolin, vocals), John Rosenfelder (bass, violin) and special guest Eric Lilljequist (guitar, vocals). A special look at Finnish musical styles will be included.

Rabies Clinic Schedule

The Nashoba Associated Boards of Health, in cooperation with local veterinarians, will provide rabies immunization for dogs and cats. All dogs and cats over six (6) months of age, not previously immunized, and those with a blue rosette (2009) rabies tag, must be immunized. The vaccine provided at Nashoba Clinics is effective for three (3) years for dogs and cats over one (1) year of age and currently immunized. Dogs and cats between the ages of six (6) and twelve (12) months and those who have let their immunization lapse must receive a booster within one (1) year of the initial inoculation. They are then protected for three (3) years.

ALL DOGS AND CATS MUST BE IMMUNIZED AGAINST RABIES

Cats must be brought in cages or closed boxes during the last half of any clinic. The tag for 2012 will be a red heart. The charge per immunization is $10.00 (unless otherwise noted). Residents of Nashoba member towns may attend any of the following clinics. All pet owners must present, to participating veterinarian, proof of current vaccination to receive a three (3) year rabies vaccination. Failure to do so will result in your pet receiving a one (1) year vaccination.

INVITATION TO SERVE ON SCHOOL BUILDING COMMITTEE


The North Middlesex Regional School Committee is seeking applicants to serve on a School Building Committee for the purpose of developing and implementing a plan to repair/renovate and/or replace North Middlesex Regional High School. Interested persons should forward a letter of interest in which the applicant summarizes his/her credentials.

The Building Committee’s work will extend over the next 2-3 years and involve regularly scheduled meetings. The frequency of the meetings will vary depending on project demands, but could be weekly during some stages of the Committee’s work

Planning Board Meeting on Proposed Zoning Amendment

The Planning Board will hold an open meeting Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2012, 7:30 pm at Town Hall to discuss the proposed Ashby Village Center Overlay District. This is a proposed zoning change the purpose of which is to regulate commercial architecture in the center of Ashby and allow for expanded uses. The Board will discuss district boundaries, permitted uses and the extent of architectural regulation. The Board is interested in your thoughts about this proposed district and will allow time for public comments.

The Village Center Visual Preference Survey will be conducted at this meeting as well. The survey is to determine what residents like and dislike in terms of the appearance of different kinds of development on Main Street. This survey can be done online or at the Library until March 7th.
